Restoration

Almost all of our antiques have been restored or touched up before leaving the country of origin. Many pieces have been significantly uplifted, hard to realize until you see the before and after.

Restoring historical pieces is a challenge. It is a balanced skill between making the piece authentic but at the same time making it look clean and fresh. Some prefer a rough and slightly touched-up style, others go for smooth and a more contemporary finish. All depending on the purpose, the environment and of course the person buying it.

Our Chinese repairmen use ancient techniques that have been used for decades. Traditional Chinese furniture has no nails, screws, staples or any other advance techniques applied to.

In our US warehouse we also have a crew specialized in touch ups whenever needed.
