This kind was normally used in a Chinese pharmacy in the old days. The unusual variety and excellent spacing of the drawers should be especially noted. The elegant drop handles give an additional richness to the cabinet. Today it becomes an ideal collector's item.

Chinese doctors labelled each of the multitude of drawers with the names of herbs and medicines (various mushrooms, reindeer antlers, etc.) to fix what ails you.

Some of the pieces may have replaced been during restoration and the paint has been redone.

This piece was found in Shanxi which name literally means "mountains' west", which refers to the province's location west of the Taihang Mountains.
